I am going to Toyokawainari tokyo betuin.

It's time for the "Shogoku" pilgrimage once again this year.

Every year, on New Year's Day, I raise a banner, and in May and September, I light a large wax candle. This is a vow I've made with my deity, which I've kept for nearly twenty years.

I believe that it is by the deity's divine protection that my household is safe, and I'm able to sustain my life. This small promise between my deity and me, I hope to continue as long as I live.

On this day, I decide to visit Toyokawa Inari first and foremost. I don't engage in any other business before going to Toyokawa Inari.

The time it takes to go to Toyokawa Inari from my home, the transportation costs, the offerings - I consider all of them as merits given to the deity. Thus, I might as well have lunch at a shop within the shrine grounds and receive Inari-san's blessing.

I think I'll also add some sweet sake to the mix.

As always, after passing through the large torii gate, by the time I return home, I feel light-hearted and refreshed.

Though it's a bit drizzly, it's about time to set out!
