After a variety of experiences on Kauai Island, it's time to move from this island to the Big Island of Hawaii.
We filled the rental car with gasoline and checked that there were no flat tires before heading to Lihue Airport.
However, we received a notification from Hawaiian Airlines. Due to weather conditions, the flight from Kauai to the Big Island was canceled.
The airline suggested flying from Lihue Airport to Oahu Island first, and then moving to the Big Island.
Of course, there was a wait for the flight to Oahu, but the airport staff proposed this as a workaround.
Since we had checked in our luggage early, we were concerned about its whereabouts. The Hawaiian Airlines staff assured us that
our luggage would be arranged to meet us on the Big Island.
By the time we left Lihue Airport in the evening and stopped over in Waikiki, it was already dark
when we arrived at Hilo Airport on the Big Island.
One hopeful thing was that, learning from our experience in Kauai, we had pre-booked a rental car.
Everything went smoothly from the airport to the rental car company. (It seems humans learn and grow from experiences.)
The drive was in the dark night, but we were relieved to find the roads well-maintained.
It turned out to be a long, long day."
