Hawaii Island, fondly known as the Big Island.
Before the pandemic, a couple who are close friends and the two of us traveled there, creating cherished memories.
The average temperature near the coastal resort hotels is 23.9 degrees Celsius in winter and 25 degrees Celsius in summer. The weather is often clear and dry with little humidity. However, as the elevation increases, it gets cooler, and the summit of Mauna Kea even gets snow.
Last time, I enjoyed horseback riding separately from the other three.
This time, as a duo,we decided to enjoy a drive from Kona on the west side of the Big Island to Hilo on the east.
(The roads are well-maintained and easy to drive on. They are mostly straight but have significant elevation changes.
The road is invisible until you reach its highest point, which repeats several times. It must be a thrilling road for those who
love altitude changes!)
Traveling from west to east on Hawaii Island, we stopped at Liliuokalani Gardens and had lunch at Hilo Bay Cafe,
where men who appeared to be of Japanese descent were having lunch, speaking fluent English.
Nest day, we drove from the west to the southernmost point of the United States, to the cobalt blue Cape Ka Lae near South Point.
Nearby is Green Sand Beach, where we saw the rare green sandy beach.
And then, the Akaka Falls, surrounded by a greenery rich in negative ions.
All of Hawaii Island is believed to be filled with 'Mana' (spiritual power).
We fully enjoyed the power of nature with all our senses.
On our last night on the Big Island, we dined at 'Kona Inn in Hawaii'. We ate the famous 'Ahi' (tuna) with lemon sauce and
delicious Japanese-style shrimp.
Back at the hotel, we looked up at the night sky from the terrace. The air was clear, and it was a clear night,
allowing us to continue admiring the star-filled sky... Truly worthy of being called a starry sky.
And so, quietly gazing at the stars together, this is a memory to cherish forever!
