Today is the Tanabata Festival. I hope it doesn't rain.
Now, a family member has some business at Kasumigaseki, so I had AI-chan drive on the Metropolitan Expressway. As expected, there was light traffic congestion, so it wasn't the usual smooth drive with AI-chan.
The Metropolitan Expressway can become virtually non-express during certain hours, so it's important to keep track of the traffic flow or else it could be troublesome!
In the car, I often listen to "Classical Café" on NHK FM. (AI-chan's car specifications do not allow for AM radio listening.)
Today, we decided to listen to other pieces from Paganini's "24 Caprices."
Listening to such music in the midst of light traffic congestion doesn't seem quite right. What remained in my memory was the "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" composed by Rachmaninoff.
Sometimes, I wonder curiously under what circumstances composers come up with such pieces. I, who am not well-versed in classical music, look forward to the day when I can appreciate such music as wonderful.
The "Classical Café" ended with a cello performance by Yo-Yo Ma instead of a violin. Yo-Yo Ma's cello performance was very good. I can imagine that the playing technique is quite challenging, especially considering that he is playing a violin piece on such a large cello...
Gradually, my heart becomes calm and happy...
It seems like today will be another pleasant day!
