"We had a Homecoming Day and a class reunion."

The mornings and evenings have noticeably become colder, and I can feel the changing seasons.

Yesterday, we went to visit my 91-year-old mother-in-law's nursing home in Fujisawa City. My husband and I had lunch there and were treated to a feast. Every dish was meticulously prepared, with a slight, delicate flavor. I had the opportunity to taste them all.

It made me realize that as people age, there is a need for such consideration.

Today, I'll be working at the office. However, I'll take a break during lunchtime to attend a class reunion

that follows my university's Homecoming Day event.

During my time at university, I specialized in economics and accounting, making me a rare female student in that field.

The male members of my class treated me with great care, and this continues to this day. It's truly wonderful.

In a class of about 50 students, my friend and I were the only two females, and we became close friends.

Before the pandemic, our class used to meet twice a year. My friend and I have been quietly organizing these gatherings, inviting only those gentlemen we wish to see. (Laughs)

It's been over 40 years since graduation, and this tradition of class reunions, New Year's parties, and small trips has endured.

At work, even those who held high positions in major companies are very gentle and kind gentlemen in our presence.

It seems they don't get addressed by their first names like "Mr. So-and-So" very often, so it surprises them.

Well, then, perhaps I'll continue to give them a pleasant surprise for a long, long time.
